Tulisan ini dibuat oleh seorang ayah wisudawan ITB 19 Juli 2008 . Saya rasa perlu kita sebarkan faham dan semangat anti korupsi ini. Selamat membaca …
Semua bergembira. Bahkan ketika harus berdesakan memasuki pintu masuk dan berebutan mencari kursi terdepan, tak ada gerutu. Kalaupun ada titik air mata, maka bisa dipastikan tangis itu adalah ekspresi haru bercampur gembira.
Mata saya nanar menyaksikan kemegahan yang tergelar di hadapan saya. Tiga monitor besar menyajikan momentum penting secara jelas. Di sebelah saya, seorang perempuan bercerita, ia ditinggal suami ketika anaknya berumur dua tahun. Perempuan cantik itu berjuang sendiri membesarkan anak-anaknya. Ia enggan menikah lagi. Kini salah seorang anaknya duduk mengenakan toga dan segera diwisuda menjadi sarjana teknik. Tak hentinya perempuan itu menangis. “Saya membayangkan ayah anak-anak ada di sini,” katanya di antara isak tertahannya.
Saya pun menitikkan air mata. Bukan semata karena gembira dan haru menyaksikan anak saya diwisuda. Tapi, terutama, karena saya sedang membayangkan masa depan yang bakal diarungi 1400 lebih wisudawan hari itu. Saya membayangkan mereka akan bertarung dalam berbagai arena. Mungkin nantinya akan ada yang menjadi menteri, akan ada yang menjadi pengusaha besar, akan ada pula yang menjadi presiden. Jebolan ITB telah mengisi begitu banyak posisi penting di negeri ini, termasuk lembaga yang paling banyak menyumbangkan koruptor setelah mereka menduduki berbagai jabatan.
Hal yang paling saya takutkan adalah bila anak saya, yang hari itu diwisuda, nantinya bakal tumbuh mejadi koruptor. Saya tidak bisa membayangkan jika hal itu terjadi. Karena itu, berkali-kali saya bicara, “Bapak tidak akan terlalu bahagia kalau kamu menjadi pejabat publik, kecuali dalam lingkungan kampus.” Saya tidak bisa menjelaskan dengan baik ketika anak saya bertanya “kenapa?”
Bagi saya, koruptor adalah bajingan paling tengik yang menghancurkan negeri dan menyengsarakan jutaan rakyat. Saya tidak ingin anak saya menjadi banjingan tengik walaupun karena itu ia berlimpah harta. “Jangan pernah kamu menjadikan harta sebagai orientasi hidup kamu. Hidup adalah proses. Jalani setiap proses dalam hidup itu dengan bersih, jujur, dan sesuai dengan aturan Tuhan. Percayalah, kebahagiaan dalam hidup tidak melulu bisa dicapai dengan uang, tetapi dengan keteduhan jiwa, ketenteraman hati, dan kedekatan dengan Allah.” Hanya itu yang bisa saya katakan. Berkali-kali.
Cinta pada anak adalah cinta yang tidak berbilang. Mungkin sebagian orang akan merasa bangga mendapatkan anaknya hidup di bawah gedung megah, beristri cantik, dan tabungan bermiliar-miliar rupiah. Saya pun akan bangga. Tapi saya akan membakar rumah anak saya sendiri jika ia mendapatkannya dengan cara keji, dengan cara culas, dengan cara tidak pantas yang menyebabkan orang lain sakit, kehilangan kesempatan, atau termiskinkan. Uqi, dengarkan bapakmu ini bicara, “Bapak akan sangat marah jika kamu merusak tatanan kehidupan hanya karena ingin menyenangkan diri sendiri. Sebaik apa pun niat akhir dari sebuah proses, tetap saja akan tak berguna sama sekali jika proses itu dijalani dengan durjana.”
Jangan pernah menjadi seorang durjana. Jangan pernah menjadi bandit. Kalaupun suatu ketika kamu melakukan kesalahan karena tak sengaja atau lalai, segeralah minta maaf, bertobat, dan jangan pernah mencari pembenar dari setiap kesalahan yang kamu perbuat. Sadari saja kesalahan adalah sebuah kesalahan. Jangan berdalih. Dan segeralah minta maaf. Jika ada kerugian yang diderita orang lain karena kesalahan itu, tebuslah dengan dirimu sekalipun jika itu diperlukan.
Gedung Sabuga dipenuhi nyanyian patriotik. Sungguh menggugah. Saya terus bertanya pada diri sendiri, apakah para wisudawan itu cukup khidmat menyimak lagu “Padamu Negeri”? Jangan-jangan mereka hanyut dalam euphoria keberhasilan, lalu tak sempat meresapi syair “bagimu negeri jiwa raga kami” itu.
Mereka pantas merayakan keberhasilan mereka, memang. Untuk mendapatkan satu kursi di ITB bukanlah perkara mudah. Mereka harus bersaing dengan ratusan ribu tamatan SMA yang memiliki mimpi sama dengan mereka. Selama menjalani masa perkuliahan pun bukanlah masa-masa yang mudah pula. Tuntutan nilai bagi mahasiswa ITB sangatlah tinggi. Mereka tidak boleh lengah. Wajar jika mereka bergembira bisa menyelesaikan perkuliahan mereka. Sangat wajar.
Ruang gerak mereka seusai wisuda ini pun sangat luas. Lapangan kerja terbuka lebar buat mereka. Jika mau, berbagai perguruan di luar negeri dengan senang hati menerima mereka jika ingin melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan yang lebih tinggi. Berbagai lembaga telah pula menyiapkan bea siswa. Pilihan bagi mereka memang sangat luas. Termasuk pilihan untuk memasuki jebakan menjadi koruptor besar.
Negeri ini adalah negeri penuh jebakan. Anak-anak yang hari ini bergembira menyandang gelar sarjana, sangat mungkin akan segera terjebak dalam sebuah sistem yang membuat mereka tidak bisa mengelak dan membentuk mereka menjadi bandit. Tidak terlalu banyak jiwa tangguh yang bisa berkelit dari kondisi amburadul ini. Anehnya, kita sering sangat bangga berada dalam jebakan kebanditan itu. Bangga membawa anak-anak kita ke hadapan kepala sekolah favorit dan mempertontonkan bagaimana kita menyogok sang kepala sekolah agar anak kita mendapatkan tempat di sana. Korupsi menjadi sesuatu yang dianggap wajar. Tanpa sadar kita pun telah mengkader anak kita menjadi koruptor. Kita juga nantinya akan bangga jika anak kita mampu membangun kemewahan berlebihan, padahal gaji mereka hanya pantas untuk hidup ala pedagang kaki lima.
Kita, juga negeri ini, sangat bangga membangun jebakan kebanditan buat anak-anak kita sendiri.
Di Sabuga, 19 Juli 2008, saya mengucurkan air mata, sebab saya takut, jangan-jangan saya telah membuat jebakan kebanditan buat anak saya yang tampak sangat gembira menerima jabat tangan dari rektor dan dosen-dosennya.
